NEW YORK CABBIES ARE GOING GREEN



By 2012, all of New York City's taxi cabs will be hybrids. The change will reduce carbon emissions from the taxi fleet by 50% - the equivalent of taking 32,000 cars off the road. The new taxi standards are a part of PlaNYC, the City's effort to fight global warming and prepare for the 1 million additional residents that are projected to live in New York over the next 25 years

Electric Cars Light Up Detroit Auto Show 2009



New Concept Cars Unveiled, Volt Battery Pack Manufacturing Facility announced the potential of electric-powered cars was a highlight of the 2009 NAIAS Detroit Auto Show with several automakers unveiling their latest concepts and making big announcements.

General Motors announced that Chevrolet Volt will use battery packs manufactured in the United States. The plant will be located in Michigan and will be the first lithium-ion battery pack manufacturing facility operated by a major US automaker. Facility preparation will begin in early 2009, with output starting in 2010.
