POSSIBLE DANISH TRAFFIC SOLUTIONS

"A research group is looking into whether providing free public transportation would help solve Denmark's traffic problems.

In an attempt to control the nation's ever-worsening traffic congestion, the government has assigned a research group, the Danish Board of Technology (DBT), to find viable solutions to the problem, including the possibility of making public transportation free.

The operation and upkeep of the public transportation system costs an average of DKK 37 billion annually, while the Greater Copenhagen Authority (HUR) estimates a continued growth in traffic of 40 percent by 2015."

DANISH BJØRN LOMBORG (TRIES TO) MAKE HIS CASE ON TED.COM

In above image Bjørn Lomborg in a Mini Hummer on Amager Beach.

Economist Bjørn Lomborg makes a persuasive case for prioritizing the world's biggest problems, asking "If we had $50 billion to spend over the next four years to do good in the world, where should we spend it?" His recommendations - based on the findings of the 2004 Copenhagen Consensus - controversially place Global Warming at the bottom of the list (and AIDS prevention at the top). Lomborg was named one of the 100 Most Influential People by Time magazine after the publication of his controversial book, "The Skeptical Environmentalist" which challenged widely-held beliefs that the environment is getting worse. Now the Danish economist is taking on the world's biggest problems with his Copenhagen Consensus.

(Recorded February 2005 in Monterey, CA. Duration: 17:27 from www.ted.com )

The point Bjørn is trying to make being, that it is not about spending money on Climate changes, it is all about changing the minds of humans to alter behavior and create awareness. The only problem is that Mr. Lomborg is supported by Climate Change deniers and the Fossil Fuel Industry, so his credability in the matter is not very convincing..

ENERGY 101

"Raising the share of renewable energy from 8.5% to 20% in the overall energy consumption is a necessary contribution to the global fight against climate change and towards better control over our energy dependence. The various uses of renewable energy are examined: electricity through wind and hydraulic energies; electricity or heat through geothermal and solar energies; electricity, heat, and biofuel coming from biomass. The EU is a world leader in the use and deployment of technologies that exploit renewable energy sources, providing over 350.000 jobs and an annual turn-over of € 30 billion."
